Everbloom Paper Flowers

Ranunculus (Black Hole)

$135

There are no black ranunculus. The darkest cultivars — the near-black tulips, the Queen of Night — are deep maroon or aubergine that only read black at a distance, and in full sun they give themselves away. This one doesn’t. It’s built to swallow light instead of reflecting it, a ranunculus spiral in a black so dense that the petal layers nearest the center stop being separately visible at all.

The trick is that the black isn’t uniform. Each petal is dyed to the depth of the layer it sits in — the outer ranks carry a faint blue-violet cast and a fine shimmer along the ruffled edges, while the inner spiral is worked progressively darker until the center reads as an absence rather than a shape. The ranunculus form is faithful: dozens of paper-thin petals, spiraling tight, edges crimped the way the real flower crimps. The stem is left as bare dark wire, curled once, which suits it better than a leaf would.

Signature Series pieces are Julia’s own inventions — botanicals that don’t exist, made with the same techniques as the ones that do. Small, severe, and better in a plain vase than a crowded one. It won’t fade toward brown the way a dark flower does, and it holds this exactly.

Materials & Making

Every piece is built from premium German and Italian crepe paper — hand-dyed, hand-painted, and shaped petal by petal. Stems are wired throughout, so each piece can be bent, angled, and arranged as you like, and holds its shape once set.

A multi-step protective finish seals the color, adds a subtle luster, and guards against fading and humidity. Because every piece is colored by hand, tones vary slightly from the photograph — no two are identical, and yours will be its own.

Made to Order

Each piece is made by hand after your order is confirmed. Typical preparation times, measured from the date your order is confirmed with Julia: 7–10 days for one to three stems, 10–14 days for four to seven, and 14–21 days for larger commissions. Shipping transit adds approximately 5–7 days. Timelines run longer through the holiday season and the spring wedding months, and your confirmed date will always be stated in writing before you commit.

Working toward a wedding or event date? Include the date in your request and we’ll confirm the full schedule before anything is finalized. Need a piece sooner than the times above? Ask — a compressed timeline can often be arranged.

Prefer a different palette? Most pieces can be made in custom colors — describe what you have in mind, or send a photograph, and Julia will confirm what’s possible with your quote.

Every piece is finished with a tag signed and dated by Julia, nested in tissue, and boxed for safe travel. Preparation & Delivery
