Everbloom Paper Flowers

Parrot Heliconia

$135.00

Heliconia is what people mean when they say tropical. The plant is native to the rainforests of Central and South America, where it’s pollinated almost entirely by hummingbirds, and what reads as the flower isn’t one — those brilliant orange blades are bracts, modified leaves that do the advertising while the true flowers stay small and hidden inside. Hence the other name it goes by: false bird of paradise.

The bracts are cut long and tapered, then shaded wet from yellow at the base through orange to a scorched red at the tip, so the color moves the way it does on the living plant rather than sitting flat. Each is set individually along a zigzagging stem, alternating left and right in the ascending pattern the species is known for — the placement is what makes it read as heliconia rather than a fan of leaves.

A graphic, architectural stem for a room that can take some color, or as a layer in something larger. It holds its shape and its brightness indefinitely, and it won’t collapse the way a cut heliconia does within days of leaving the tropics.

Made to Order

Each piece is made by hand after your order is confirmed. Typical preparation times, measured from the date your order is confirmed with Julia: 7–10 days for one to three stems, 10–14 days for four to seven, and 14–21 days for larger commissions. Shipping transit adds approximately 5–7 days. Timelines run longer through the holiday season and the spring wedding months, and your confirmed date will always be stated in writing before you commit.

Working toward a wedding or event date? Include the date in your request and we’ll confirm the full schedule before anything is finalized. Need a piece sooner than the times above? Ask — a compressed timeline can often be arranged.

Every piece is finished with a tag signed and dated by Julia, nested in tissue, and boxed for safe travel. Preparation & Delivery

Care, Repairs & Returns

Though delicate in appearance, each piece is remarkably durable and may be bent and arranged as needed. Keep out of prolonged direct sun and damp environments, and your piece will hold its color and form for decades. Because every piece is made by hand to order, all sales are final.
